Wanted: Suspect Shot Teen On Long Island Over Pair Of Sneakers, Police Say

Police on Long Island are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the person who shot a teen earlier this year.

According to Suffolk County detectives, a teen attempting to sell a pair of Air Jordan Black Cat sneakers via Snapchat met a man outside his home on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 3 p.m. 

The teen left the shoes in the house when he came outside to meet the man. The man then displayed a handgun and demanded the teen bring the shoes outside, police said.

Police said the teen ran into his house and closed the door. The man then fired a shot through the door, striking the teen in his thigh. 

The man fled in a silver SUV.

The teen was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
